Corner Brook Cogeneration Plant
- Location: Corner Brook, NL
- Capacity: 15 MW
- Year Commissioned: 2003
Built in 2002, Corner Brook's biomass cogeneration plant supplies approximately 57 GWh of electric power to Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro under a 20-year contract. Representing an investment of $30 million, Corner Brook's biomass cogeneration plant is the only one of its kind in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The cogeneration unit burns paper mill waste to produce electricity and the steam used in the papermaking process.
The mill is equipped with a state-of-the-art wet scrubber, which has significantly reduced particulate matter.
