This 9.9-MW power plant on the Saint-François River in Sherbrooke (Brompton Borough), Québec, was commissioned in 1997. The energy it produces is sold to Hydro-Québec Production under an electricity supply contract.
The hydroelectric power generated by the Larocque Dam was once used to operate the grinders that debarked and ground the wood used in the mill, but then fell out of use. The Company decided to optimize this resource, which was available in its natural setting, while managing and maintaining the power plant.
